VIPS 1 and Jet Set--closed

Walked down there to find the same scene: Taped doors. Closed. Out of biz. Silence...

Walked down to Dollhouse to see if that was gone too. Greeted by the Gringo owner who assured me his "paperwork was in order." He seemed calm but it had to be a front. If I'm him, I'm scared as shit right now.

By my count that makes 9 joints down on that side of town. They haven't started on the other side...

Yet.

Two more nails in the coffin.

Supposedly 25 cops the night before...it was on the news.

VIPS is a local joint so the concept of them targeting gringo establishments goes out the window.

The scene has always "come back." Of course that was the same thought process that kept in me in Nasdaq as it went from 5000 to 1600. It always comes back, always comes back...until the day it doesn't.

Walked by VIPS yesterday. The owner of Jet Set was opening up. Said the city wanted a wheelchair-accesible ramp for the front and bathroom improvements. He's aiming to reopen Monday.

Also Muses, which looked to be in complete disrepair, will be reopening. 4 workers and the dueno were pounding away at improvements late in the night yesterday. They, too, are aiming for a Monday reopening.

They seem to be pounding away at Zona Blue non-stop. Won't be long there either, tal vez.

Sitting in New York bar last night bemoaning the mediocre scene, a sweetheart shows up 15 days in the biz and rocks me, Amadeus.

CR, apparantly, will not "go under" easily.

I was taken to a "new" club last night by the doorman of Jet Set. It's basically where some of the girls from VIPS are hanging til VIPS reopens (they said Friday). It's right around the corner from Pirate Club walking toward Parque Merced. Pretty beat down group, though the killer negrita NICOLE hangs there often. That alone will have me peeking in my last week here.
