Xbox live party chat help.?

Alright, i is confuzzled. Okay, ive looked it up and no one has this same problem. its a situation 21 or whatever its called. When i have my mic plugged in, i can't hear people. When my mic is not plugged in, i CAN hear people. So, if i want to talk to someone, i have to plug in my mic, talk, then unplug it to hear their response. urk. help me! please? i give you cookie...
I can hear people just fine, but it's only when i put my microphone jack into the controller when i can't hear people. the moment i take it out i can hear people just fine. Btw, i have headphones that plug into the tv that also acts as a mic. Skullcandy lowriders. So, i can still hear people through them. ONLY when my mic jack is in the controller i cant hear people.

Have you considered that the speaker on the headset isn't working. If another headset or another controller doesn't fix the problem, you can always output voice to your TV speakers, it's in the settings when you press the guide button.

Check preferences, see if the voice volume is all the way up... and make sure your mic volume is up too, otherwise you may have pulled or ripped a wire
