They were going around saying Trump was taking mailboxes off streets and that if Trump won, the election could not be legitimate--that the whole process was rotten. Not quite an apples-to-apples comparison but there was that narrative going around before the election. There was an actual hearing in the House about concerns around mail-in ballots and the postal service. Given the pandemic, mail-in ballots would be more widely used than ever before so it was something to be addressed

Both sides do dirty tactics to suppress voters from turning out and it’s always been that way. A concern was raised and addressed in the House before the election. That hearing also acted to extinguish the arguments of some of Democratic naysayers about election integrity.

Trump was just spouting off that if he lost it was rigged since his daddy taught him losing is not an option. There were no deeper concerns warranting a hearing in the house. He won, then he still kept complaining of fraud because he lost the popular vote and his daddy taught him losing is not an option. Trump didn’t even think he’d win the 2016 election and he started with the fraud allegations as a way to justify and rationalize that scenario since losing is not an option. His fragile ego couldn’t take it.

If it wasn't apples to apples, I wouldn't have made the comparison. The removal of mailboxes as a ploy to affect the election was ALWAYS as nutty a proposition as anything Trump said about a stolen election.
I know this because I know quite a bit about postal operations in the developed world for the last 30 years. I can give boring details, but basically every post office in the developed world has been taking old style letter boxes off the street for many years due to falling mail volumes. The fact that the Democrats called an "inquiry" to review this is proof of the contempt in which they hold the public. They banked that the public would be dumb enough to simply believe them and they were largely right. Note, I am not saying the Republicans are not capable of an equal level of cynicism--but when they try it--they are subject to far more scrutiny from the media.

And let's not confuse issues. I am not defending Trump's reaction to losing the election. I am simply pointing out the hypocrisy of the Democrats' stance and the media's failure to expose it.

Of course losing isn't an option. No sense playing the game if you're not trying to win. Your option comes into play if, and when you lose.
