There are also different words for "I" dependingon who you are, not just "watashi". There are many levels of polite speech in Japanese, if I as a middle aged man were to address a girl half my age in the same way as I would another middle aged man I would be making myself look ridiculous.Young Japanese women are extremely polite, middle aged and older Japanese men are extremely rude and these things are expected of both. Bow as rarely as possible and NEVER bow lower to anyone else than they bow to you. If someone bows to you bow back but much less than they do. If you return your boss's bow to you lower like a Japanese employee would he will be laughing about you with his mates at the isakaya (pub). Likewise there are many different suffixes to add to somebodies name, not just the usual "san".

Gaijin certainly do lose perspective in Japan and it isnt hard to see why, while people are two faced in every country there is no country inwhich people are as convincing that they like you when they really do not as in Japan. Also you cant access your payout until you have actually left Japan and you only have 2 years after leaving your govt job to claim your pension payout. It is a not so subtle way to get you to leave Japan after 3years. If you dont leave after 3years you will still be paying your 13 000 yen every month for no extra money.
The Japanese eikawa and schools get away with this because since there is such a shoreforum.xxxe of entry level graduatejobs in all English speaking countries and Japan has an international reputation vastly different from the reality there is a never ending supply of fresh faced naieve young English teachers

Generally, these are decent women and the most beautiful ones hook up with Japanese guys, and are usually not in to foreigners.
