Keeping cream sanitary?

I bought some cream from Biotone and the pump on the jar stopped working. Some other creams I've thought about buying don't even have pumps. What is the best way to use cream for massaging while keeping the source jar sanitary?

I take out the exact amount of cream that I will need for a session (with a glass spoon) and put it into a separate little bowl which I dig into during the session. If for some reason I need more, I just use the spoon and plop some more into the bowl.

Biotone has refillable tubes. I like those because you can just squeeze what you need into your hands. When you're done with the massage ya just clean the outside of the bottle and you're good!

You are too quick for me SalemRose! I was about to post almost exactly what you posted, but went to go grab my Biotone refillable tube out of my massage bag first and you beat me to the punch!

I started using Biotone's 7 oz. refillable tubes about two years ago after being introduced to them in a senior massage class that I was taking for my San Diego CEU requirement. Prior to taking that class I had primarily used massage creme while working with seniors, but used 2 oz. jars for my regular clients that I had to refill much more often.

So sorry! LOL We had one at work when I first started but we had to throw it out because we used it to death! Anyway, I just order a couple more and it'll be nice to have them again!

I had many problems in the past with the pump that comes with the herbal select cream - I have since started ordering a pump that is for the advanced therapy cream. I use up the cream that comes in it and then I start adding my herbal select cream. I have had NO issues with those pumps.

I don't know if this helps, but I really like the Soothing Touch creams. When I was in school we used Biotone, but then you know how it is, and you get bored. So, I tried oils, and made my own stuff, but when I tried the Soothing Touch Calming Cream the search was over. What is so great about it, is that it acts like a cream, but is pumpable like a lotion, and I just use a regular pump bottle. It is a little more pricey, but I think it is worth it. And all my clients love it, because they don't feel slimmy. I highly recommend it. I order it from Massage Warehouse.

I have never had luck with pumps. They always stop working during the middle of a session. I am using non pumpable cream now and I do like the idea of putting in a seperate bowl

I use a refillable jar and a couple plastic tongue depressor/spatula things. I use Biotone's dual purpose cream and tend to put a small scoop on each forearm and work from there. If I need more during the massage, I just grab a new stick and scoop some more out.

I prefer to be able to fill some jars and leave them off to the side when we get a new container in. There's been occasions in the past where I've gone to refill my jar from the container and seen finger scoops in the bottom of the gallon tub. *gag* Now, I make sure I'm the first one in the new container, fill my jars, and leave the rest alone. :|

I use the refillable tube also. But i did have a fellow classmate use body butter all the time and she just used those little plastic condiment type cups, with a lid. And it almost always held exactly enough if not a little more and then she gave the client whatever butter was left. I had thought about doing that and adding some essential oils to it so you can customize to each client and then they can take it home. I priced the little cups and lids at Sam's Club and they aren't very much at all. Probably about $10 total for 2500.
