New Years Eve 2009

Hi Guys

We will be there from the 30 dec to jan 12th. For the 1st couple of days we are staying at the phuket country club. We have a little boy, aged 1 with us.

Whats good to do on New Years eve?
Where is a good place for Dinner on New Years, with a kid of course?

Any help will be much appreciated guys.

thats the exact same dates i am going to be there i am also interested as to where is good on new years however we are all 20/21yrs old so looking for sumthing a little more wild with sum cranking music etc.

also herd something about a compulsory dinner on new yrs for tourists or sumthing? can anyone elaborate on that?

Na, dont think there is anything like a compulsory dinner for tourists....lol. I am sure all the restaurants and hotels will offer something for new years eve. If you looking to Party then Patong is the only word you should learn.

A lot of the higher price hotels do have "compulsory" Christmas/New Years Eve dinners.

Many hotels have a compulsory new years dinner set up, that you pay extra for if staying over new years, whether you attend or not.

If you are not staying at a place that forces you to stay in the Hotel for the 'compulsory Gala Dinner' then you could try the following

Sams Steak House- inside the Holiday Inn, air conditioned and very good food.

The Ban Rim Pa Restaurants- at the North of Patong Bay- there are some loverly views from there from the De Maurizo and Joes Downstairs

Mom Tris Boathouse at Kata is also a loverly place for a meal

Another one that I like is the Mangosteen Resport if you get there before sunset the views are spectacular.

The Ban Yin Dee also has loverly view over the bay of Patong.

Your hotel when you check in will have a free guide book Dining In Phuket with a review of all the restaurants their menus and prices and contact telephone numbers, so you can have a look at that also.

anywhere around the beach (patong) is good, it's hectic and fireworks going off constantly and not always under a controlled environment, i.e random on the street.
for the 21 yo, bangla road is the place to be.

well me and the kids will have dinner somewhere ,then dodge the fire crackers on Bangla and more than likely end up with Nicke in MTB.
