Thanks to the extreme chill that's been blown onto the public sector, Edmonton is a "no spending" zone right now. If you're in a service industry that's not a necessity, you're probably having a hard time now. If I were in the massage business right now, I'd be looking to add value to my service.

I don't know about that. Drive by most popular restaurants at suppertime and the parking lots are still always full! Even on a weekday.

Can’t comment about he Chill in the public sector, but I do know that the oil patch has been taking it up the ass for a few years now.

I agree, places seem quieter, unless as someone mentioned, the ladies are giving some extra attention to their clients.

One lady I have seen recently has given a lot of attention to me, no major upsell, and very little resistance making sure I enjoy my extra time.

I am guessing that is the general attitude of the ladies working there, as my last visit I heard the door at least 6 times and some gents were told to come back later.

Like any business, quality, service and attitude will keep you busy. Good experiences are spread around and average businesses can lose big time.

Alberta was smashed hard by the collapse of oil prices and I had expected discretionary spending on things like massages would take a hit, and I'm sure they did, but in Edmonton they probably bottomed out a year or two ago. Recent economic data shows that Edmonton has now risen to the highest unemployment city in Canada and consumer spending here has dropped to levels nearly as low as the bottom of the oil collapse. Lots of the public sector feeling insecure, many families had been hit by the oil collapse but had an income from a public sector job, and now that might go away as well.

I think about the attitude of many adult entertainment providers in 2013 - very similar to many in O/G: "The money train has rolled in and is on track to never stop." Whoops, wrong.

I know massage places are not keen to lower their prices, and I get why. If you're going to earn less money, you might as well work less time. The problem of course is if your pricing means you earn so much less that you're not solvent. As a business owner, if you think the lower demand is a temporary situation, you might survive the downturn by offering temporary pricing promotions or more product/service for the original price, but structured as a promotion. "For February, get 75 min of massage for the price of 60" and see if that drives business. Or, as many "semi legit" places have done, be more open to adult "extra" services, etc.

Stopped in at Best care last week. Nice Asian masseuse, asked for deep and definitely received. Very decent, a good 7/10 for me which is pretty high. Very nice and friendly and would repeat. Tiffany I think was name.

Topic says North side so I figured posting about Lewis Massage was as good a place as any to post. The massage was alright but not enough to regurgitate an old post or start a new.
Booked a few weeks ago for an evening massage. Booking was easy, location was interesting. Back area or a very large, and very busy hair salon.....but not a salon. More of a revolving door or hair cuts.
When I parked I was confused about how many people were walking in and out.
Rooms were fine, bed was good, everything was clean. But the noise is a big distraction.
Hair salon music and the stylist chatter was allot.
I’m ok to pass on round two. 6/10 is all I can muster.

Probably, the best place, to get affordable rental rates. And Lewis seems to have enough loyal customers, to keep masseuses cycling through their doors....customers who can block that noise out, better than I ever could.

And for those new to what we are talking about: the different massage studios that have rented the back of PV Hair and Beauty Salon: 10938 (98th.)street. The back of the building, kind of falls on 99st.

I see that she offers nanny or housekeeping services as well on the nanny website.

Back entrance behind PV Hair Salon to access the massage service is also available if you wanted a more discreet entrance. Just ask them at time of booking to confirm.
Otherwise, both Lewis and here have noisy hair salons in the front and feel like you doing the walk of shame........not sure if anyone feels same way, but the Lewis salon in front felt a bit too greasy and even the white floor tiles felt the same way.....

I am just avoiding them altogether. For me: my shame: is the money I wasted in the first place. Massages are supposed to be peaceful and relaxing.

I hit H&H in the fall and used the back door. It was after hours of the hair work so there was no noise. I would suggest that time of day.

I tried that once. It worked for about
10 minutes...then the first walk-in rang the doorbell. She let him in, and suggested he could wait in the next room. No sound barrier between rooms, meant I could actually hear him changing in the other room. A lady was called back to give him a massage. But, my lady had to unlock the door for her. Then, I had to hear another walkin ring the doorbell, about 15 mins.after that. Sadly, this wasn't even my worst visit.

The worst visits, were the ones during business hours....where you could hear, very clearly the conversations, in both Mandarin, and English...between the male stylist and his customers.

Tiffany is there most of the time, on the older side but very playful and friendly.
Haven’t seen anyone else there in a while, but did hear of a few new names/talent when called to book.
