Ok, I have tried searching old posts for this topic and have come up empty, so I am starting a new one... :What oil do you use for massage?  Does it stain your sheets?  How do you wash your sheets?  I have heard something about adding "partially fractionated oil" of some sort that will help oil wash out, but I am not sure what this is or if it works.   :-/

I use Hydrasperse that I get from the Bodywork Emporium and it washes out with no trouble. You can look them up online and order directly. I buy it by the gallon and add essential oil essense to the small bottles I am using as needed.

I also use hot water to wash my sheets and I use flannel that I also purchased from them. I like the quality of them.

Is this something you add to the oil, or the washer?  I am in a situation where I send out my linen for cleaning so I have little control on what/how it is washed.  I would like to find an oil, or natural product that can be added to oil without causing skin irritation.Thanks for your suggestions!  I hate the smell of oil burned into sheets!

I LOVE grapeseed oil! It feels so velvety. Also it is a great skin conditioner and leaves the skin so soft. its a natural source of vitamin E plus skin nouroshing fatty acids and is a perfect base for mixing essential oils. Can you tell I just copied that from the bottle!! It, in my experience, does not stain. I have heard people say it does, but I have spilled it on my pants, shirt, car floorboard, and it came outta everything. Plus its very cheap. A half gallon from massage warehouse is about $12 I think. Not bad.

My husband just started using some sort of combo of regular detergent, a cup of Coke, and some Oxi-clean (all his sheets are dark-colored), but he also realized he had accidentally left some of them too long without going in the wash.

Most of my sheets are flannel and I always buy a little tub of "GOOP" (it's meant for grease stains and is usually found in the automotive dept. at Wal-Mart) but it seems to do great if you spot-treat any stains then wash along with Oxi-clean.

Has anyone noticed any difference with a higher or lower thread count? I've been wondering if a higher count might be better.

Getting oil stains out of sheets can be a real bear and so after destroying many sets over the years, many on fire in the dryer, here's what I have to say. Start with new sheets, preferably industrial grade that the hotels and hospitals use. Wash and dry them first to get the chemicals out. Then use them. When you go to wash, wash in hot water, just don't put in the dryer. The dryer is what screws up your sheets and once its baked in, there's no getting it out. Now when you feel you are getting a build-up on your sheets, I suggest adding baking soda and a degreaser with the hot water. When you hang the sheets to dry, use a drying rack or hang them in thirds with a trouser hanger. Just make sure that wherever you hang the sheets to keep them out of direct sunlight. Direct sunlight will bake the sheets the same as the dryer so be careful. If this sounds like too much work for you, it may be smart to look into using a linen service. For some of the clinic owners out there - How often do you buy new linens?

Every few years I rotate a few new sets in. It seems to be 2-4 years when a sheet set may begin to look a little worn. I think much of it depends on how many sheet sets you keep in your office and how many client visits you are working with.
