First, let me reveal the bias I have from experience. I've partaken at all different levels of the market. My conclusions are:
The service you get for $450/hr will not generally be any better than what you will get even at an $80 incall place.A $450 SP will likely be better dressed and more attractive than an $80 incall, but not necessarily any different from a $200/hr SP.A $450 SP will usually have a much nicer incall location if that is how she does business.A $450 SP will usually be better spoken and more sophisticated company if conversation is what you want or you need to take her to a social function. Some high priced SPs don't meet these general criteria. You can find all of the positive attributes of a $450 SP for $200/hr if you invest enough time and money. However, your experience will involve far more misses than hits.
Are $450 SPs twice as good as $200 SP's? Are they even "better"? In my opinion, neither is true. All that's true, from my experience, is that if you're a guy with more money than time on your hands, and you need someone who's likely to be able to hold a conversation, particularly in the company of business associates, and/or you have a fascination with the concept of "high price hookers" (i.e., in your mind, more $ equals better), then a $450 SP is likely the best bet for you. For the rest of us, there is no reason to pay that much.
Which brings me to my point about the market. The people who pay top dollar do not push the whole market higher. People who buy Ferrari's do not significantly affect the pricing of KIAs. You could make a more compelling argument that $450 SPs create a significant opportunity for other SPs to undercut them and capture more of the business.
I belong to a golf club. It's expensive to join. Is the course 2X better than another one I could join in the GTA area? Probably not. It's priced that way to make it exclusive. In other words, my club only wants people with certain income levels to belong to it (both for snobby reasons, and, more legitimately, to ensure certain spending levels in the pro shop and restaurant). However, the price of my club doesn't affect the price of a round at a public course like Don Valley.
As a result, most people would be wise to take a pass on this SP. But for some, she will be exactly what they're looking for.
