Newbie question: A lot of these discussions seem to assume that twin sheets will work OK on massage tables, but twin sizes hang over on my table and don't look very professional. Is it better to use special massage fitted sheets on the bottom instead?

it is a matter of personal preference.
some folks dress their table with a flat, fitted, and blanket, so you may not see it anyway.
i prefer the massage sets from suppliers so i have a matching face cradle cover.

We use plain white flat sheets at my work. When the table is made nicely with no wrinkles (I am a little *Royal* hehe) it looks nice and IMHO, professional. I usually have a lot of appointments back to back and it's easier if I can just grab any 2 sheets out of the stack and put them on the table. I don't have time to find a fitted and flat. Also, I don't like dealing with the elastic band when I have to put the boster under the client's knees or ankles.

When I was in school we would tuck out bottom sheets into the adjustable legs. Only takes a second if you've got that type of table. Just loosen the legs enough to slip the sheet in and tighten it back up. It's pretty secure and holds the sheet down nicely, even for the people that totally mess up the sheets when they flip. If you'd like to dress it up a bit why not invest in a nice blanket to drape over the sheets. A local spa I went to had a really soft knitted throw over the table. It had fringe at the edges so you didn't even notice what was under it.

Hello Newbie, and welcome.
I have always used twins. I did buy a few sets of only flats (its what I heard was needed for class, this was wrong info it turned out).
You'll find that later you may add a fleece table pad, a table warmer etc and the extra room will accomodate nicely.

We use only flat sheets in student clinic, but I much prefer the fitted bottom sheets I use at home or when practicing on my own. The flat bottoms are extra work, and when there's limited time between sessions, I would rather spend my time doing something other than fidgeting with sheets. Once flat sheets are in place, either tied down with table legs or tied to each other, it's really difficult to get a bolster under, or even move it around once it is in.

I find that the twin bottoms are really loose on my table, but the top sheets that come with a standard massage table set are too small. I've been combining the fitted from the massage set with a twin top sheet and like how that works. I don't have a fleece pad, but the table warmer fits no problem.

On my table I use a TWIN size fitted sheet and a FULL size flat sheet and blanket for the client to cover themselves. I have always used the fitted sheet and wouldn't ever use anything but the fitted. Although, I do actually have 2 fitted sheets on the table. One that covers the egg crate and fleece pad and that sheet always stays on the table. Then, the sheet the client lays on is on top of that.

I actually have a flat jersey sheet over the table warmer, tied under the table, then a fitted sheet over both. I got a set of jersey sheets for regular use and HATED them! They cling unbelievably, although with a flanel fitted over the top, it works well for holding the table warmer in place.

Egg crate and fleece? YUM! Couple of things for the xmas list....

Hi...

I have to agree, on a portable table, I like fitted sheets. And the "extras" that you'll probably add on (as mentioned before - egg crate, table warmer, table/mattress pad) will definitely fill up that extra part than is hanging off your table right now.

As for hydrolic tables.... for some reason, I find flats work nice on them. Dunno why, just seemed they did.
