They don't have a door open between the two any longer, but they both have doors on both Coahuila and the alley....so you can go back and forth without walking on Constitucion or Ninoes Heroes....on Friday and Saturday night Hong Kong has a cover(one beer) to get in though.

Here is something I have read on another site, and I just hate these obviously self serving reports that anybody over the age of 7 wouldn't believe, yet we see these types of posts all the time, and nobody calls them on the bullshit!

Does anybody believe that an SG would get out her phone, and happen to know the number of a monger who is about to get mugged, and warns him just in time? ( how many SGs trade numbers with mongers?)

As we hear more and more about mugging, we get more and more stupid made up reports. But then again, some people will just tell me, if they wrote it, it must be true, and then ask "why would they lie?"

I believe that if you want to err on the side of caution, you can taxi to one of the Coahuila clubs and be safe between Niones Heroes and Constitucion on Coahuila. If you want to hang out in the alley it seems that not any muggings are occurring there either, and you can probably walk around the block safely, but don't forget you can cross to the alley through Las Chavelas or Hong Kong as well.

I am definitely a big guy, and I was totally sober. I hadn't even had my first beer yet. And just a note it doesn't matter, how much you look around, if these guys want to get you, they will. And it doesn't matter if you're a karate expert or judo expert these guys will win, and you will lose, and hopefully you won't get killed. And expect no help from the locals, they are scared of these guys and I don't blame them.

This changes my routine also, only the alley, and basically that's it. Take a taxi there and a taxi back. It's kind of sad, because I so much enjoyed my walking around and having fun with the Street girls.

I go to San Diego for business a couple times a year. I've got a condo there. I used to go to TJ everytime I went. It was dangerous before, but only if you were stoopid and didnt take precautions, or were looking for trouble. Now its very dangerous. Stay away, and if you go, dont get drunk, it could cost you your LIFE. And take a taxi everywhere except the busiest parts of Revolucion. Keep eyes in the back of your head, dont talk to strangers, dont get girls off the street.

I believe there were a few reports of muggings on that day and another of a guy who was being followed and avoided what may have been an attempt.

I was in a meeting last night with 6 fellow monger/tourists and we noticed that they seem to be working with lookouts....one of them with a cell above the playboy bar.....looking for potential victims and the police as well.

This committee is working on a plan to visit with people in authority to bring more attention to this growing problem and to try and make the Zona Norte safe to visit.

Nope you are the only guy who reported a mugging by name Mepeter's at least for that day. There are a few other guys who reported attacks on other days.

Constitution borders the zona, and if your looking for SGs you probably are going to get on Constitution because the street has lots of SGs.

Hopefully I'll get a chance to check out the zona some time this week. I'll walk on Constitution and the famed Articulo 123 and see if I could spot any ratero teams.( it's unlikely I would be a target mostly because I look poor and I'm always aware of my surroundings and who is behind me at all times)

I doubt I'll notice anything special, but I'll report whatever I find.

If muggings are occurring frequently lately it probably has more to do with the TJ cops not being in the area like they use to, and the closing of the small police station on Constitution. Some recent nights in TJ some nights I don't see even one TJ cop.

In fact about two months ago a Street walker free lance bar girl ripped me off of $20 dollars walking out on me. Now that I think about it, there were no cops around that night, and I probably could have pulled her by the hair and demanded my $20 dollars back, and I would have had nothing to fear from the TJ police, but I guess I would have to fear her ratero friends nearby who would have chased me, so maybe I'm just better off losing the $20 dollars.

mepeter -- I'm glad you made it out without getting hurt. I hope others will heed your warnings.

Sometimes I think that many mongers forget that Zona Norte is a dangerous area. Seeing some people there they seem to think that they're at home and get wasted and let their guard down. Those are the really easy pickings for the rateros but they're staying home more and more these days. The rateros rolling experienced streetwise mongers mean that are getting desperate. Like tj amigo thread says, everyone is sized up by these guys from the second they enter the zona. Just as you look up and down every chica in the bar in terms of if you want to go to the room with them, the rateros are looking at you and sizing you up.

It has always been a dangerous area. Everyone must be careful and aware of their surroundings. You can still have a great time. I don't venture past the Coahuila alley along Constitution usually even during the day. But even in the 'safe zone' you still have to be hyper aware of your surroundings. Be like the ratero and size up everyone on the sidewalk.

These things are going to happen with more frequency. There are more rateros and fewer gringo mongers for them to rob. The economy + narcotraficantes + swine flu + stories like this hurt both legit business of the bars and girls and the ratero's business.

For those like myself that have been going into zonas like Tijuana and elsewhere that won't be deterred, it just means we have to redouble our vigilance. I try to never bring in anything to the zona that I can't live without. I also have resigned to the fact that my luck may change and I might get mugged. I might get ripped off by the police. Something worse might happen. If I wanted safe I'd go to Disneyland.

The other two members of the other board that were mugged on the same day did report it on the board.

And yes I did report it to the Tijuana police. They got my full name and phone number. But I doubt if they really care. And yes there was somebody on the other board that somehow avoided an attack. But believe me, if you are marked for attack, there is very little chance that they will not succeed. They are very organized, and very professional in their attacks.

Worst case scenario for a chokehold can possibly lead to death. Not good if your love ones find out your dead in the red zone. For you folks brave enough to go out there. Since you can't carry weapons out there, I suggest you take a large key and filed it with a sharpened edge. You would have about 15 seconds or so to do this or else you will pass out. I am sure a couple pokes in the arm will cause him to release you and then run into a business for protection. This will also make it easier for the police to identify the perp.

These guys are so aggressive because they know that there is little chance for a fight back. It is time to stop being a weenie and fight back. The message will get out that the gringos are no wimps, it will not be a simple take down.

Where did you get your information about the other three that day?

Along with my money and my keys and my cell phone and my pack of cigarettes, they also got my passcard. There is no way I would ever bring my passport to Mexico. Keys were a son of a bitch to replace, getting a new cell phone was also a pain, it's going to take at least a few weeks to get a new passcard and I don't know how much that will cost me.

At approximately 7 p.m this past Sunday. I was put in a choke hold on Constitution Avenue near 1st St. Things are starting to get a very crazy. If nobody believes me, Rancho one and big Lou will confirm. It's getting very dangerous out there. And it's very scary to wake up on the concrete and wondering where you are. These choke holds are very effective, since I've read about them so often, I knew what was happening, but there was no way to get out of it. If you're expecting help from the Tijuana general populace, forget it! You'll just be left lying on the ground bleeding. I know because it happened to me .

I am BB52 at tjamigos , though I used to be mepeter on that website also till I got banned for absolutely no reason as far as I know. Or at least if there is a reason nobody is saying why .

In between the hours of 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. six people were mugged in the Zona. And three of them were members of TJ amigos. All choke holds and all were put unconscious and robbed .
