Washing sheets - jock itch

Hey folks,I just had my first client with something at least semi-coneforum.xxxious... jock itch!  :I've separated the sheets as I wasn't sure what to do with them. Any advice on how to wash them?They're black, btw, so uhh no bleach if possible.

What about a color-safe bleach? Not sure how disinfectant they are, but it'd be worth a shot?

Don't know where you do your laundry, but most home hot water heaters are set to between 120-130; to get water to 160 requires adding a kettle or two of boiling water from the tap Be careful with that hot stuff    Rob

My washer at home has a sanitize feature, and it will heat the water to 150-160. Neat feature after some clients I've massaged! *shudder*

Grapefruit Seed Extract is a wide spectrum antimicrobal and just some drops (30 I think) is supposed to do a whole load of laundry.  A bottle has about 1000 drops and costs about $8-$12 so its very reasonable and safe enough to use in skin preparations, etc.  Excellent site below telling how to use it. http://www.nutribiotic.com/GSELiquid.htm

How funny you would mention this now... GSE has been an "up" topic for me in just the past few days.I'd used it before at school... and recently bought some to help preserve hand made lotion. There is some controversey over its safety, effectiveness, "naturalness", etc.There's no doubt, though: it's a synthetic chemical, despite its natural source... much like SLS derived from coconuts. (The grapefruit seeds undergo a rather crazy sounding refining process to get to GSE.)But I took it to my chiropractor and had her muscle test me with it... it tested strong for all the tests she did, so... I'm going with it for now.

I'm pretty sure 'jock itch' is a fungal infection, just as per athlete's foot, and so should get cleaned off in the same way any other fungal spores do in the laundry.

But I took it to my chiropractor and had her muscle test me with it... it tested strong for all the tests she did, so... I'm going with it for now.

So, the chiro gave it the "OK" for you to use?  

Here's some info on sanitizing and it involves products I consider a lot "scarier"...

Products that contain quaternary, chlorine, pine oil or phenolic can be a disinfectant. They should display an EPA Registration Number on the label and be labeled as a disinfectant. Use the hottest water safe for the fabrics you are laundering. For colorfast or white textiles, add ¾ to 1 cup chlorine bleach in the wash cycle. However if there is a large amount of iron in the water, can cause rust stains to appear on fabrics. For fabrics that cannot be washed with bleach, add 1 cup of pine oil disinfectant such as Pine-Sol or 1 cup of phenolic disinfectant such as Lysol to the wash.
