How could you even begin to compare being in a steak house while it is being inspected with being in a massage parlour while it's being busted???? How many here would feel the same and would not think that their name COULD be in the paper the next day? As it is very clear that no one knows exactly what the fuck is legal or isn't. I think it is a legit concern of massageplanet.netites. When there are high end licensed spa's like I.T. and Body and Soul that get raided and shut down, it makes customers question what their rights are if caught in a MP. What is legal and what isn't? Is it illegal to have a naked woman sliding on top of you running your cock between her tits and being paid to do that? If a cop raids the place and your both naked in the room that you've paid for can they press charges? Can anyone clearly answer those questions? thats not true at all! SP's have a different set of rules. Agencies aside, 2 consenting adult can exchange sex for money in private residences. Its public solicitation (ie: street corners, public ads, etc) that cause issues. MP's are licensed places that harbour nakedness...different ball game.

I think there's a bit of confusion here. There are two types of "visits" an MP can get.

The first is a By-Law "inspection" is where city employees (i.e. municipal civil servants), who do not have police powers to arrest, come-in and inspect to see that the premises is meeting the municipal by-laws. If the MP is not, they issue a ticket with a fine to either the MPA or the owners. No arrests, no paddy wagons, no criminal records, no names in papers - they legally don't have the authority. I was in an MP when this happened, and the By-Law officers looked right through me. I got dressed and walked right out the door without so much as a word. And in this respect, being in a steakhouse is a very good analogy - the health inspectors are not there to check-up on the customers at all, just the owners, cooks, waiters and managers.

The second type of "visit" is one from LE/police, which is what I think of as a "bust" or "raid". When that happens, that's when all hell could break lose, and I wouldn't want to be there when that happens. They usually arrest people and lay Bawdy House charges and other prostitution-related offenses. Names in newspapers is not a given, but a possibility, especially in communities that are trying to get rid of MP's. A recent example are the police raids along Danforth and O'Connor, closing about eight MP's. Toronto Police flyers appeared in the MP windows and once the operation was over, it made the news - but I don't think names were released.

I thought I would weigh in with my 2 cents or so...
3Tees - you are right to challenge the source of Disturbia's info. It could be construed as deceptive to pawn off italics as gospel, especially without citing it. In many circles (namely academics), that's called plagiarism (not citing a source, or hawking off one's opinion as an inferred source), and that can lead to expulsion or dismissal. Except in Korea, where it's normal. And sometimes in the music industry. Guns and Roses can do it, but the Verve can't....
Without revealing my source, I have it on reliable authority that there is NO MAN in jail right now in Toronto (awaiting trial, anyway) who was caught in an R&T, er MPA.
The trouble with defining what is gonna get you charged - and more unfortunately, convicted- is that Canada is a common law country (while QC is a codified province). Thus, there is a thing called precedence.
If you think pot is legal in Ontario, guess again. It's not. HOWEVER, judges in our country have a habit of writing the law in their decisions. Thus, it has been found that pursuing recreational users is not worth the time and money of the courts.
Bawdy houses are quite dicey, since the property has to be deemed public in the sense that the neighbourhood is threatened by the activities. Of course there is the issue of consideration - the exchange for service.
Anyhoo, from my experience, coppers are looking for 4 things:
1. Immigration violations
2. Underage
3. License violations
4. Prohibited sexual activity.

Of the 4, the latter is hardest to prove in court. Cops don't want to waste their time and the tax payer's money on a 30% conviction rate + court challenges. The other 3 are pretty cut/dry slam dunks. Go for the quick win.

Once in a while, you get the "raids", which are really one of the first 3 with a LE PR spin. It's just meant to scare off the demand. If they can choke off demand busting the first 3, then #4 ain't gonna happen...as much. So scare the hobbyists into thinking they are the target. Really, we're the ancillary benefit of inspections/raids.
